27-29/7/07 BURNTWOOD W/END

Good weekend, as we were all geared up for the Shires this event suited us (cheap and local). Well done to the chaps who sorted this one out just a pity a few more of the local clubs didnt support it. Venue has real potential, about the same size as the Brewers, worth thinking about for next year.

4/8/07 ANNUAL BBQ AT THE HORSE & JOCKEY

Well this was our third BBQ and true to form what another great day we all had, the sun shone and the beers flowed and boy did those Mosquitos bite.  Thanks to all clubs that once again supported us namely, Deltas, Glory Boys, Modern World, Olympics, True Brits, Unreliables & Wulfrunians you all helped us raising 238 Quid for our Birmingham Childrens Hospital Charity Fund. Fantastic to see all those who came on there Scooters this made the judging of the Best Lambretta & Vespa much harder, special thanks to Jamie (Obsession) for helping us with the judging well done to Pirates of the Caribbean & The Bullet.

11/8/07 UNRELIABLES SC ANNUAL DO

Great day a few of us came up on our scooters had a few ciders (but not to many though) Stowford Press ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  Mary & me had to go to another BBQ in the early evening where I had another few ciders.  We got a lift back to the Lamp in the evening & met up with a few of our friends and guess what I had another few ciders. Later in the night one of the internal walls looked as though it was about to fall so to save everyone I put my whole body weight against it. This became harder and harder so some of my friends began to help by pushing against me. I dont remember a lot about this but I assure you its the truth and had nothing to do with the Stowford Press (Cider Man - Cider Man)

24-27/8/07 ISLE OF WIGHT RALLY

Mary and Me rode down to Southampton on the Thursday, took it steady as I was still running my lambretta in.  We stayed at the Travel Inn, just outside Romsey on Thursday night (most comfortable bed I've ever slept on).  Friday morning did the short ride down to the docks and waited for the rest of the club to arrive, sailed on the 3pm ferry, got to the digs in Sandown around 4:30pm, Friday night we all caught the train down to Ryde met up with a few friends and drank loads and caught the cattle bus back got in around 3am.  Had to get up at 8am for breakfast no plans until 12pm, as I thought so went back to bed and a phone call from the captain at 10:30 wanting to know why we werent down stairs. "HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW YOU HAD CHANGED THE MEETING TIME TO GO TO THE CAMP SITE" had a little bit of a tantrum there and dented the side of my helmet with my finger Ha! Ha!  Plenty of stalls on the site, then rode into Ryde met an old workmate from Worcester (invited him to our do on Sunday night) Saturday night Back to Ryde this time to the Hipshakers at Ryde Castle great night will definitely go back next year.  Sunday had to go down to the Tap House to help Kenny unload the Disco gear from the van; we were a little bit late so all the work was done by the time we got there, sorry lads. Had a few drinks then set off down the Rugby Club to see all the scooters arriving from the ride out.  Sunday evening down to the Tap House bit quiet to start with but the place soon packed out. Had a great night and everyone enjoyed themselves. Kenny was on top form with his Mouth Organ.  Monday saw the ride back, what a great weekend.

Sunday at The Tap House -A DJs Perspective

After texting all the club members who I thought might want to come and help set up for the do, as I guessed only Mark, Karl & myself were there to help Kenny set up the gear. Fair play to Mary & Geno they did get down to The Tap for the 'session'. Really didn't feel like a beer (or bacardi) after our sat nite @ Hipshaker but was talked into avin 'one' whilst setting up it went down far too easily! So after the gear was set up Karl decided we should av one off the top shelf so by 1.20pm we had had 7 shorts! Geno matched us with 7 Malibu's (really ciderman!). Think the alcohol might have had something to do with us changing the noticeboard outside the pub to read Dave the Knob instead of Dave the Mod! The 3 of us pissed ourselves (very schoolboy humour) you had to be there to understand. Everything that afternoon started with a 'K'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eventually made our way to the rugby club via the digs & the offy to pick up more refreshments.

Sunday evening arrived in a alcoholic haze, I was really hoping the Tap would be full as it was last year, this year though saw 2 other dos on in Sandown so we were all a bit apprehensive how the nite would go.

Got to the Tap around 7.30pm checked out the gear not good news only one CD deck working, tried everything to get it working and I only had CDs! Phoned Kenny more bad news he was feeling shit so was gonna be late getting there but told us to try tapping the CD player twice - it worked we were up and running.

A bit of a slow start the pub was slowly filling up with a mixture of scooterists and locals by 9pm the place was full and a few people had ventured onto the dancefloor to strut their stuff to the Northern, Kenny did his spot and soon filled the floor, the floor stayed full then until I went back on at around 11pm started my second set off with a bit of punk (Alternative Ulster) which cleared the floor!!! Persisted with it though a few got up to Anarchy in the UK slipped into the Ska/2-Tone which got a few more up on their feet, from there on in it was a full dancefloor thru till one, everybody enjoying themselves to a good mixture of scootering sounds. The last half hour was northern all the way with the crowd applauding every record made me feel like a real northern DJ (which I am not).

Both Kenny and myself were overwhelmed with the amount of people who said what a great nite they had had, thanks to the B5000s, the crowd from Gloucester and Brum and of course all our club (sorry Healy never did play any Roses).

Will def try to put the do on next year, but anyone reading this all our dos are great so come along to the Jockey in Coseley its free in!

8/9/07 CANNOCK CRUSADERS DO

My Birthday bash and we had arranged to go to a shin dig in Hednesford, we all met up at the Earl of Wessex and after a few bevies boarded our minibus and headed north, up the M6 on the first part of what would be come an epic journey, after about thirty minutes of Karl giving it the craic having us in stitches, we arrived at the Tackeroo Pub which was hosting a Cannock Crusaders SC do.  On entry, we all headed to the bar area where several double Gin and Tonics were purchased by my fellow revilers for me to down, and at one stage I had at least eight lined up. The music started to crank up to the usual scootering sounds and to plagiarise the Captain, 'perspective on the DJ' well he was ok, however not in the same league as our very own Sandown two, not a mouth organ in sight.  The Jam Drc were as ever, their brilliant selfs and entertained the crowd with their innovative renditions of The Jam classics.  We took to the floor, shook our funky stuff and sadly the night drew to a close, a little earlier that expected, so with that we all headed out to the burger van and participated in its gourmet delights, boarding the minibus back to the Black Country, for a ride better that anything Alton Towers can provide Oblivion, Nemesis and Submission all rolled in to one with an illusion of a death defying exit we will not forget in a hurry.  Thanks Guys for all the drinks and another fun packed night once again 'what a hoot'.

28-30/09/2007 RUN TO THE SHIRES

The morning started with the loading of the car, it’s amazing how much room there is in a KA. We set off at about 10:00, me on the Jet because Mary had drawn the short straw and had to drive the car with Kayla as passenger. Had to meet up with wagga first to load up his beer an tent, we’d already fetched Bills beer and tent on Thursday night, finally set off about 10:15. The ride was pretty uneventful but this was the first time out after running in my 200 Rapido. It was about 11:15 when we got onto the site at Catton Hall and we could virtually pick anywhere to pitch our tents. Bill joined us and after a couple of hours and a few ciders got the gazebo and tents up just in time as it started raining and went really cold. We started to wonder if the weather was gonna ruin our weekend and had we bought enough warm clothes with us. After the rain stopped we decided to check out the main tents, as there were still very few people on site these were decidedly empty, so we went back to the gazebo and had a very chilled out afternoon culminating in a fantastic homemade hot chilli for tea. As a few more people had arrived during the afternoon and early evening we thought it was time to set off for the main tents again.  Night was a bit slow to start with but it soon picked up. There were the usual excellent sounds being played in both tents and through the rest of the night there was the usual drinking chatting drinking dancing and more drinking then back to the tents for more cider then a good night’s sleep. Woke next morning and decided it was time to venture for a s**t in the porta loos, with past experience I was not looking forward to this and had got my own roll of bog paper in my pocket. To my pleasant surprise the porta loos were in near perfect condition no blockages and very clean and I can say this is how they were kept for the rest of the weekend. After the morning ablutions it was down to hot coffee and bacon butties for breakfast. The normal stroll round the stalls then back for the afternoon BBQ and usual drinking session. As normal we had bought far too much food with us so this was shared out to the Wulfrunians and Delta’s. We then ventured back up to the main tents stopping off at the bucking bull. This looks easy to stay on until you try it, which I did and lasted about two seconds. Again the sounds in the both tents were as good as the night before. Next day saw the short ride back home with a stop off at McDonalds for well needed coffee and big breakfast. Great venue fantastic toilet facilities all in all great weekend can’t wait till next year as it should be a bit warmer, well done to VFM.

CHARITY CHEQUE PRESENTATION AND CHRISTMAS PARTY 27/12/07

Big day in the clubs calendar our annual Xmas party and the presentation of a cheque of £2500 to Birmingham Children's Hospital.  First to come was the presentation of the cheque, this was eventually arranged for 2pm at The Horse & Jockey (Mark & Lainey had terrible problems getting the hospital to commit to someone coming over to collect the cheque). The local paper had been contacted and had promised to send down a nice photographer to take a few pictures, the weather forecast was for it to be dry so hopefully a few would turn up on scooters.  Got round the Jockey just before 2pm a few scooters were already present the chap from BCH was there all that was needed now was a few more members and the nice photographer from the Express & Star.  The 'real' cheque for £2500 was made out and signed and handed over to Malcolm Faulkner (BCH Fundraising rep), he was asked to keep us informed of how the money will be used (hope he does).  The nice photographer arrived and bossed us around for a bit to get a few snaps (I reckon most of the lads would have let her boss them around any time!!), she took various pictures centring around Marks moddy series 2.  After she had gone ( Karl cooled down) we had our own photo session and then Karl & Jackie invited us up to their house for some 'tiffing' ( apparently a phrase used by the late Sid James in some of the Carry on Movies for drinks and a bite to eat).  A slow trickle of members wound their way up to Karl & Jackie's and the 'tiffing' commenced all very civilised even Karl (well he had to be as his in-laws were present), when I left the usual suspects were making arrangements to get scooter/cars home to enable them to carry on 'tiffing'.  Cheers Karl & Jackie very hospitable of you.

Back home the phone starting ringing, people wanting tickets, people who couldn't make through illness it was a bit chaotic to say the least. One chap rang from Kettering and said he was coming up, don't know wether he did.  Arrived down the Tipton Sports Academy around 6.30pm, Kenny had almost finished setting up the disco gear and was having a few electrical problems, a few more members arrived (the usual crew who can be relied upon to help out) a few notices were put up some re-arranging of the seating and putting up of the club banner were carried out.  All there was to do was sit back and wait for the hordes to arrive (well 220 tickets had been sold out since mid November) we waited and waited by 8.30  a few had started to trickle in but no where near like last year when the room was full by 8.30, still by nine the room wasn't packed and as for the dancefloor it was empty apart from the odd few until around 10.30pm, very frustrating when you are spinning the tunes, Kenny & myself were beginning to think nobody was going to get up and dance, probably everyone needed a bit of lubrication first or it may have been due to hangovers from Boxing Day.  The draw for the 2 lucky wristbands was made and 2 lucky punters were £25 better off, this was an idea by the club to say thankyou to the punters for helping us with our fundraising throughout the year.  The bar was on till midnight and the dancefloor stayed mainly full until 12.30, I was feeling a bit disappointed in the way the night had gone as regards people dancing, but speaking to people as they left everyone said they had had a cracking night.  Apparently 40+ people with tickets didn't turn up on the night and even some of our members failed to show! (you know who you are!!), in conclusion it was a good night but it lacked the atmosphere of last years party, maybe as it was the day after Boxing Day this year where as last year it there was a recovery day in between, we will have to have a think about what day to hold next years.

Thanks to everyone who turned up hope you enjoyed the night and you are all invited to our 2nd Anniversary Party at The Horse & Jockey on Sat 15th March 2008.

Well done to all who heped out on the night and those who sold tickets.

WULFRUNIANS CHRISTMAS DO 29/12/07

NEW YEARS EVE PARTY AT THE HORSE AND JOCKEY 31/12/07

MODERN WORLD DO 02/02/08

OLYMPICS ANNUAL DO 09/02/08

Been looking forward to this one since last year!  Just hoping I would remember a bit more than last years! (definitely wasn't gonna put my drink down this year).  This do is one of the classics in the scootering calendar and attracts scooterists from far and wide to the Black Country, lets hope if it is moved as it has now outgrown the current venue it stays local, each year you can always catch up with people you havent seen for years.  Met up with Mary & Geno down the cricket club expecting a few to turn up, only one more did Kev Holyhead (who's still looking for that elusive GP200- hurry up Kev springs nearly here!), quick pint then a Taxi up to The Station Hotel.  The lounge/bar area was already heaving, having waited for up to half hour in the past to get a drink I feared the worst, needn't have worried got a drink in less than 10mins.  A few more of the club appeared as time went on, Dave the Mod was a bit worse for wear (wobbling a bit - but he wasnt drunk!!).  Plenty of catching up was done, then at about 10.30pm I went up to the bar, whilst waiting the very clever bar manager instructed his bar staff to stop serving as they had uncovered evidence that punters were bringing in their own booze, what a surprise- welcome to the world of scooter dos!, the closure lasted about 15mins before normal service was resumed.  We paid our fiver and went into the main room where Chevy was just finishing off his set, the dance floor was full (half dancing and half using it as an extension to the bar area), disco Daz started off his set with some good Brit pop stuff slipping into a bit if classic Northern.  I wasnt sure whether I thought that moving the do away from The Station was a good idea, but after not being able to get on the dance floor I think I agree.  12.45 came around far too quickly and it was time to get back home, another good do the only blip being the bar shutting down.  It will be interesting to see where next years do is held, but I am sure it will still attract the usual crowd.

Drying out time now before Tenerife - except for next weekend when its my 37th birthday (I wish).
